Over the last few months we have been working hard to incorporate the Empower Plus Program in our center. The goal of this program is to help children to develop healthy habits and to prevent obesity by having more physical activity, having less screen time, and by making healthy food choices. We are limiting screen time, and promoting physical movement. We have provided more equipment for our teachers to have "Music & Movement" time in their rooms. Teachers are incorporating directed physical activities on the playground that will help keep the children active. Computer and screen time is limited to 30 minutes per week with the exception of some educational computer programs. Please join us in our effort to develop "Healthy Habits". Here are some things you can do as a family: Recipe for a Healthy Weekend; Limit TV time Eat meals as a family Eat fruits and vegetables Take a walk outside together Read a book inside together Get a good night's sleep Try these creative moves to liven up your time at home. Animal Moves- As your child is picking up his toys, call out the name of a fast-moving creature, like a bee, and move like that creature as you work together (Hop like a bunny, waddle like a duck, leap like a frog, and slither like a snake). As you are getting ready for bed, you might move like an elephant or a turtle to help your child calm down. Have fun! Just a reminder that twice a year a supply fee is charged per student. You are charged at registration, and again in February. On your February statement a $50 supply fee will be added per student. Rodeo Days Break for PDO and Morning PS students is February 20 and 21. The center is open with regular programs for our Full Day students. If you are a PDO parent and would like to have your child attend one or both days, please contact the office. Space for your student is subject to availability. Re-enrollment for the 2014-2015 school year starts March 3, 2014 and Open Enrollment for the 2014-2015 year starts March 17, 2014. Welcome to the Kid City Christian Preschool News for 2014!
We are proud to be an Arizona Department of Health Services Empower Plus child care site. The Empower Plus Program is a voluntary program that we participate in to empower children to live healthy lives. As an Empower Site we follow standards supporting nutrition, physical activity, sun-safety, oral health and tobacco prevention. As an Empower Plus Child Care Facility, we feel we have a responsibility to help your child establish lifelong healthy habits. By establishing healthy habits early in life, children can dramatically reduce their health risks and increase their chances for longer, healthier lives. You love your child and you want the best for them, so please join us in creating opportunities for them to make healthy choices. Thank you for providing healthy options for your children! Greetings from the KCCP Teachers and Staff! December is upon us. As we close the 2013 year we are so thankful for all God has provided for us. There are three to choose from, 3 pm, 5 pm and 7 pm. We ask that you always send a change of clothing and make sure that the clothing changes with the season and your child’s growing bodies. Sometimes we need even more than one change of clothing. Teachers try to keep a few extra items in their classroom for just these occasions.
